W(Cul[ ,
Southwest, line.
9.0 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
A total of 12 soil samples and 3 groundwater samples were submitted for laboratory analyses.
The soil samples were submitted to a State-certified laboratory for analysis of NH3-N by EPA
Method 350.2 and pH by EPA Method 9045. The water samples were analyzed in the field for pH
and submitted to a State-certified laboratory for analysis of NH3-N by EPA Method 350.2. The
soil sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1, and the results of the NH3-N and pH
analyses of the soil samples are depicted on Figure 5. The groundwater sample analytical results
are summarized in Table 2, and the results of the NH3-N and pH analyses of the water samples
are depicted on Figure 6. A copy of the laboratory analytical reports and the chain of custody
records are included in Appendix B.
NH3-N concentrations in the soil samples collected in the soil borings at 5 feet bgs ranged from 7
to 8 mg/kg, at 10 feet bgs from 46 to 158 mg/kg, at 15 feet from 14 to 32 mg/kg, and at 20 feet
bgs from 3 to 6 mg/kg. No ammonia odors from the soil samples were noted. The pH values in
the soil samples collected in the soil borings at 5 feet bgs ranged from 7.59 to 8.3 0, at 10 feet bgs
from 7.07 to 7.43, at 15 feet bgs from 7.60 to 7.97, and at 20 feet 8.36 to 8.95.
NH3-N concentrations in the water samples collected from the three on-site and two near-by
monitoring wells ranged from non-detect with a method detection limit (MDL) of 0.200 mg/l to
0.393 mg/l. The pH values of the water samples ranged from 6.9 to 7.2.
10.0 DISPOSITION OF DRILL CUTTINGS AND WASTE WATER
Seven drums of drill cuttings were generated during the drilling operation and one drum of waste
water was generated by steam-cleaning the augers. During the well development approximately
600 gallons of water were purged from the five wells and shipped under Uniform Hazardous Waste
Manifest 22970533 to Riverbank Oil Transfer Facility in Riverbank, CA (CAL000190816) by
American Valley Waste Oil hauler (CAL000827878). Each drum was labeled with the site name
and address, generation date, and type and source of the material it contained. The seven drums of
soil cuttings are pending shipment as non-hazardous to Forward Landfill in Stockton, California.
725.PRI.00 Page 7 December 4,2003
