Mr. Harlin Knoll
January 7, 1997
Page 2
In order to repair the pipeline, the contaminated soil underneath and around the
pipeline break was removed to a stockpiled location adjacent to the pipeline
while the pipeline repair occurred. The following day, after the pipeline was
returned to service, the Contractor began the cleanup of the area. All
contaminated soil was removed to the stockpiled area and covered with plastic
until laboratory analyses returned. Once the results returned from the laboratory
and the waste was determined to be non-hazardous, it was transported to
Forward Landfill on October 8, 1997(See Attachment 2 for the non-hazardous
waste manifests).
Based upon the analytical results, no further action appears to be warranted.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (510) 974-4073.
Sincerely,
Janet Oliver
Senior Environmental Consultant
JDO:skw
Attachments
