I
I06 August 2002
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0343
IPage 2 of 3
I chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI) a Department of Health Services-certified
laboratory. The ground water samples were analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) in
Iaccordance with EPA Methods 5030/8015 Modified and 3550/8015 Modified,respectively;
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl-tertiary butyl ether
I (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020; and
• The fuel additives MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl-tertiary butyl ether (ETBE),
I tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with EPA
Method 8260 Modified.
I3.0. FINDINGS
I Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were determined from field data collected on
31 May 2002;the contaminant impact to ground water was quantified from the laboratory analytical
I data.
3.1. GROUNDWATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
At the time of the May 2002 sampling event, depths to ground water in wells MW 1 through MW7
ranged from 53.14 feet to 54.35 feet below the wellheads.Groundwater elevations at the site ranged
from 28.20 feet below mean sea level (MSL) in well MW4 to 28.41 feet below MSL in well MW7
(Table 1). Ground water elevations at the site decreased an average 0.96 feet since the first quarter
2002 monitoring event.
Based on the elevation contours, the shape of the ground water table was in the form of a northwest-
trending nose. The ground water flow direction was inferred to be flowing generally to the northwest
at an average hydraulic gradient of 0.003 feet/feet. Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water
elevations as measured on 31 May 2002.
I
3.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
IWells MW 1, MW2 and MW3 were not sampled during the May 2002 monitoring event due to
insufficient amounts of ground water in these wells. TPH-g, TPH-d,BTEX and fuel additives were
not detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in the ground water samples collected from
. remaining wells MW4 through MW7.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
