Several of the violations cited in your
report require that waste be transported to a waste processing facility. The two companies I use, Stericycle and
Technichem, are closed, and report that they have no idea when they will reopen. Therefore, I cannot correct
those violations. I tried contacting both companies again today. Technichem does not answer the phone, and
Stericycle still claims they don't know when they will open. So I cannot answer when these violations will be
corrected.
Every violation that does not require transporting waste has been corrected.
Below is the status of each violation:
Violation#102
This violation is for a 30 gallon container of water and propylene glycol ether, which is the Solvair cleaning
fluid used previously. Before installing the Solvair cleaning system, it was reviewed by Casey
Foley of Environmental health. She determined that this fluid was non-toxic and biodegradable, and therefore
not hazardous. However, it did not pass the 48 hour fish bio-assey. Apparently this fluid has surfactant qualities
and coats the gills of fish. So it was agreed that it would be disposed of as a hazardous waste to insure that it
does not enter the Aquatic system.
This container has been labeled. See attached "solvair container."
Violation#104
A legible copy of the Emergency Response Plan has been posted. See attached "EmerResponsePlan."
Violation#303
i
