• If lubrication fittings are not accessible e with guards in place, machinery should <br /> be stopped for oil and greasing; <br /> • Rigging equipment for material handling should be checked prior to use on each <br /> shift and as often as necessary to ensure it is safe Defective rigging shall be <br /> ' removed from service immediately; <br /> • Work areas and walkways should not be obstructed, <br /> • The work area around the borehole shall be kept free of obstructions, and free of <br /> undue accumulation of oil, water, ace or circulating fluids, <br /> • No drilling will occur during impending electrical storms or tornados, or when <br /> rain, ace, snow, or wind conditions create undue potential hazards, <br /> ' • One worker shall not lift auger flights by himself or attempt to carry equipment <br /> or materials of excessive weight; <br /> • The driller will not attempt to reach a well or borehole location in a manner that <br /> compromises the safety of the ng or crew; <br /> • All well or borehole locations will be inspected by the drill crew to ensure that a <br /> stable surface exists <br /> When drilling is to be conducted in contaminated soil, appropriate monitoring shall be <br /> conducted to assess worker exposure as well as effectiveness of control measures Monitoring <br /> to be conducted will be specified in the Project HASP Additional PPE may be required <br /> during these conditions. <br /> 4.2.4 Hearing Conservation Program <br /> All on-site IT and subcontractor personnel shall wear hearing protection, with a Noise <br /> Reduction Rating (NRR) of at least 25, when noise levels exceed 85 dBA (or wherever voices <br /> must be raised in order to be understood at arms length) All site personnel who may be <br /> exposed to noise shall also receive baseline and annual audiograms and training as to the <br /> causes and prevention of hearing Ioss, in accordance with IT Procedure HS402 <br /> Whenever possible, equipment that does not generate excessive noise levels will be selected <br /> for this project. If the use of noisy equipment is unavoidable, wherever possible, barriers or <br /> increased distance will be used to minimize worker exposure to noise. <br /> 4.2.5 Fire Prevention <br /> Smoking or open flames are prolubited except in designated smoking areas. <br /> M7/O5- 9 9WSTA4-0053 bk 4-4 <br />
