1 <br /> RIEDEL ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> SERVICES INC <br />' TANK REMOVAL REPORT <br /> t) Pacific Bell Site <br /> 345 N. San Joaquin Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> 1 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This report documents the removal of three 25,004-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) <br /> conducted by Riedel Environmental Services, Inc. (RES)from the Pacific Bell site located at 345 <br />' N. San Joaquin Street in Stockton, California (see Site Location and Vicinity Maps, Figures 1 <br /> and 2). The scope of work entailed the sampling of the UST pit backfill materials prior to <br /> excavation; profiling of the backfill soils for landfill disposal purposes; rinsing all tanks and <br />' associated piping; transport and disposal of rinsate; excavation, loading, transportation, and <br /> disposal of the excavated backfill soils; removal of the USTs; and the required soil sampling and <br /> analysis. <br /> 2.0 BACKFILL SOIL SAMPLING, RINSING TANKS AND ASSOCIATED PIPING <br />' 2.1 Sampling of Tank Backfill Soils <br /> On 28 October 1993, RES personnel arrived at the subject site to obtain a composite sample of <br />' the backfill materials surrounding the USTs. Manually operated auger equipment and a remote <br /> slide hammer sampling device were utilized to obtain the samples. Eight samples of the backfill <br />' soils were obtained at depths varying from 4 to 15 feet below grade. The eight soil sample <br /> locations are shown on Figure 3. The soil samples were obtained within 2-inch diameter by <br /> 6-inch long brass tubes, which were capped with teflon film and plastic end caps and placed <br />' within a cooler containing ice. The soil samples were transported with a chain of custody for <br /> analysis at the Argon Mobile Labs (Argon) laboratory located in Ceres, California. <br /> 2.2 Rinsing of USTs and Associated Piping <br />' On 1 November 1993, RES personnel arrived on site to rinse the product lines and rinse each <br /> of the three USTs scheduled for removal. Once all product lines to each tank had been rinsed, <br /> the contents of each tank were removed by a vacuum truck operated by PRC Patterson, Inc. <br /> (PRC). Approximately 600 gallons of diesel and rinsate were transported to the PRC facility <br /> in Patterson, California for recycling/disposal.
