INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Mr. Harlin Knoll
Before undertaking any field work, IT will prepare a site-specific Health and Safety Plan as
required by OSHA. All groundwater purged during the sampling will be stored in one 55-gallon
drum and stored on-site pending laboratory analysis. It is assumed that the groundwater will be
free of gasoline hydrocarbons and the drum of water can be discharged on site.
Task 2. Closure Report
To document the results of the groundwater sampling activities and formally request
environmental site closure, a Closure Report will be prepared. The report will include the '
laboratory results from the groundwater sampling and a chronology of previous environmental
LLcorrective actions au the site. To-write the chronology, a file review will be conducted at the
offices of the PHSIEHD. The chronology and current groundwater conditions will form the
basis of the Closure Report which will follow the Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations
For Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites Appendix B.
Task 3. Well Abandonment
i
Following regulatory approval of the Closure Report, the three monitoring wells will be
abandoned under PHSIEHD permit. To abandon the wells, they will be filled with a cement
grout and put under pressure. This "pressure grout" method fills the well and filter pack with ;
cement, eliminating it as a conduit to groundwater. The well cover will be removed and the
surface will be patched with cement.
SCHEDULE
f
The three work tasks can be completed in a total of 10 weeks. The duration of each of the tasks j
is as follows:
Task 1. Groundwater Sampling
Workplan and Health & Safety Plan 1 Week
Regulatory Review and Approval of Work Plan 1 Week
Groundwater Sampling (1 Field Day) 1 Week
Task 2. Closure Report
File Review 1 Week
Report Preparation 2 Weeks
Regulatory Review of Closure Report 3 Weeks
Task 3. Well Abandonment (I Field Day) 1 Week
IT Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Infemcrtional Technology Corporation
i
