2.2 Drilling and Sampling Procedures Drilling will be accomplished using a. truck mounted auger. The east boring will be advanced to a depth of 1.5 feet with soil samples collected at about 5 and. 14 feet below ground.surface(bgs). The west boring will be advanced to a depth of 5 feet with a sample collected.at about 3 feet bgs. The borings will not be advanced. below 16 feet bgs as this is the depth of needed inforrnatio.n_ The samples will be placed in discreet laboratory supplied containers 'Cor analysis. All samples will be labeled with a unique alpha- numeric identifier, site location, name of sampler, etc,; placed in a cooler to keep them at the appropriate temperature (40 C) and delivered to a state certified laboratory' as soon as possible. A Chain of Custody form will be completed for the samples prior to leaving the site. The Lodi Department of Public Works was sent a copy of this work plan for review prior to submittal to San Joaquin County. Mr. Ri.chard. Prima, director of public works, slated that.public works did not need to issue a written a.uthoriza.ti.on, for this work to proceed. He a.l.so requested that work include borings to a depths of about 50.feet bgs to collect information of groundwater at:the site;however, due to the nature of the project and that this information is being collected mainly for informational and health and. safety purposes, extending the borings to th.e suggested depth would be cost prohibitive and. surplus to the requirements of the project. After discussion with Mr_ Prima he indicated that.he would still suggest this additional work, but it was by no means a requirement.for the project to go forward. 2.3 Laboratory Analysis Laboratory analysis will be undertaken at Curtis and Tompkins Ltd_, Located at 2323 Fifth Street, Berkley, California 94720. The soil samples will be analyzed for VOCs using EPA Method 3260, and for Total and TPH.-DRO using EPA Method 8015- 2.4 Boring construction/deconstruction methods The boring will be advanced. using a truck-mounted rig with, an eight inch diameter hollow-stem auger. Samples will be collected. it appropriate intervals using a, modified California-style sampler. Upon completion of the boring the hole will be backfilled using cement grout. The modified Califomia-style sampler will be decontaminated between each envirom:n.enta.l sample using a non-phosphate detergent and distilled water and rinsed with distilled water. Augers and center plugs and. other drilling equipment that comes into contact with subsurface soils will be decontaminated before removal from the site using a pressure washer: water will be collected in a.tub or basin. 2.5 Disposal of soil and/or water generated Soils generated during boring activities and water generated during decontamination activities will be drummed in separate labeled .metal 55-gallon drum and. stored on site until analytical. results of the contents are received so as to determine the appropriate disposal method.
