Advanced
t
12 June 2006
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0290
Ms. Lori Duncan
San Joaquin County- Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Closure Summary Report-Addendum 2006
Lodi Theater Project-107 North School Street,Lodi, California
Dear Ms. Duncan: '
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the enclosed Closure Summary Report -
Addendum for the dissolved.petroleum detection at 107 North School Street,Lodi,California(site).
Remediation of impacted soil and ground water at the site was implemented through soil vapor
extraction and air-sparging programs over a multi-year time span. In general, a reduction of
concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds has been achieved.
As requested by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD),a modified
table of historical analytical detections is presented, with the dissolved concentrations of 1,2-DCA
(1,2-dichloroethane). Additionally, analysis for the fuel additive 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) was
included in historical chemical analysis of the ground water at the site and was consistently non-
detect.
As part of the historical ground water analysis from the site,a full scan of the ground water by EPA
Method 8260 was performed and included in reports previously submitted. On-site, the detections
of 1,2-DCA in samples from MW-2 have decreased significantly over the remediation time period
from a concentration of 540 micrograms per liter(µg/1; 1999)to 1.1 gg/1(2006).This data indicates
a greater than 99% reduction of 1,2-DCA on-site. Off-site, samples from well MW-4 indicated a
declining concentration of 1,2-DCA;initially reported at 370 gg/l,concentrations were most recently
25 µg/1.Based upon data from on-and off-site,it appears that concentrations of 1,2-DCA are stable
or declining.
The detections of tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) in samples collected from
wells surrounding the site(MW-7 and MW-B)very likely indicate"localized"concentrations of the
regional Lodi ground water investigation, which encompasses the site.As a potential by-product of
the decomposition of TCE, the detection of 1,2-DCA at 25 µg/l near the site is not likely to cause
further degradation to the water quality at the site. PCE was formerly detected in water samples
collected from the City ofLodi domestic well number CW-3(now destroyed),located approximately
8'37 Sha ,, .Road, Stockton,California 9M
Tdcphonc(209)467-1006 Fax.(209)467-'1 1 18
