21 September 1998 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 97-0290 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> Ground water sample collection and analysis, and <br /> Report preparation <br /> Each of these tasks is described in greater detail below <br /> i <br /> 21 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD In addition, a health and <br /> safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual <br /> for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental Protection Agency, 1985) Prior to <br /> mobilization, the monitoring well location will be clearly marked and an utility clearance obtained <br /> through Underground Service Alert <br /> 22 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> Initially,AGE proposes to advance five soilrobe borings in the vicimty of the former fuel dispenser <br /> P g <br /> island and waste oil UST to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> impaction Proposed probe boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2 <br /> One probe boring will be advanced near the center of the former 2,000-gallon UST excavation, one <br /> probe boring will be advanced near the center of the former 250-gallon UST excavation, and three <br /> probe borings will be advanced near the former 550-gallon/500-gallon UST excavation <br /> All probe borings are proposed to be advanced to 45 feet bsg However,total depths of probe borings <br /> will be based on field observations and field screening using an organic vapor monitor(OVM) Soil <br /> samples will be collected from each probe boring at five-foot Intervals beginning at 10 feet bsg to <br /> the total depth Field procedures for advancement of probe borings and collection of soil samples <br /> are presented in Section 3 2 At least one sample from each probe boring will be submitted for <br /> laboratory analysis <br /> Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Toxic Substances <br /> Control (DISC)-certified laboratory for the following constituents <br /> Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA Method 8015 <br /> Modified/5030, <br />. - Volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes, BTEX) by EPA Method <br /> Advanced GeoEmIronmental,Inc <br />
