Health and Safety Plan July 18, 1994
Law/Crandall Project Golden Final
3.0 GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Training
Consistent with the CAL-OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard
(8 CCR 5192), all site personnel are to have had the required initial 40-hour training or 8-hour
update training within the last year.
At least one site person must be current in First-Aid and CPR training unless emergency medical
services can be accessed within 5 minutes of requesting assistance. Only employees
current in first-aid/CPR training are to render assistance to an injured employee.
3.2 Medical Surveillance
Consistent with 8 CCR 5192, all site personnel are required to have had a baseline or update
physical examination within the last year.
As a follow-up to a possible exposure above established exposure limits, the employee is entitled
and encouraged to seek medical attention. Depending upon the type of chemical, its concentration,
and the exposure duration, it may be critical to obtain medical attention within 24-48 hours of the
exposure. At a minimum, personnel exposed on-site must report that exposure immediately to the
SSO or their supervisor.
3.3 Site Safety Meetings
Site safety meetings will be conducted by the SSO before field personnel begin work, when there
are modifications to the H&S plan, and when additional personnel begin field work. Meetings are
to be attended by personnel involved in field activities. The topics to be discussed include the
following:
• description of the assigned tasks and their potential hazards;
• coordination of site activities;
3
