Scotts Ave.
Stockton, CA
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD) has denied "Interim Remedial
Action Plan" Work Plan submitted to GeoTracker the State internet database on June 4, 2007,
prepared by Advanced GeoEnvironmental.Inc. (AGE)for the above referenced site..
The Work Plan proposes installation of a monitoring well and three ozone wells and conducting a
24-week ozone injection test. Prior to installation of additional monitoring wells, the excavation of
550 to 600 cubic yards of contaminated soil and collection of soil samples from the sidewalls and
bottom of the excavation and stockpiled soil should be completed and a report of the work
submitted for EHD review and comment. The excavation work is scheduled to be completed this
month and a report on the excavation and soil sample results should be submitted to EHD within
60 days of completion of the work. A proposal for installation of additional monitoring wells can
be submitted with the excavation report. Quarterly monitoring/sampling of the existing monitoring
wells is to continue. This information can be used to evaluate the effect of the removal of the
contaminated soil on the groundwater and determine if additional remedial action is required. If
further remediation is required, two alternatives should be evaluated and the most cost effective
alternative should.be proposed.
Please.be advised that prior to proposing ozone injection a bench scale test work plan must be
submitted to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB). Once this
work has been approved by the CVRWQCB and they have approved of ozone injection, then
installation of ozone injection wells can be proposed.
Enclosed is a copy of a public notice to inform the"nearby residents of the excavation work.
.If you have any questions contact me at(209)468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Margarea tREHS
Program Coordinator, Unit IV
cc: CVRWQCB—Jim Barton
AGE—'Art Deicke
Enc.
