Diane M. Hinson
July 19, 1993
Page 2
Your second question was regarding the total annual precipitation rate. The annual
precipitation rate was provided for the Stockton area with the SESOIL modeling package.
Monthly and annual precipitation used to represent the site was provided in Appendix B of
the risk assessment report. Page 2 of the appendix provides a month by month summary
of rainfall for a year. The yearly total was 48.09 cm (18.9 inches). Page 10 of the same
appendix provides an annual'summary of the water balance, indicating the annual rainfall
as 48.756 cm (19.2 inches).
The difference is attributed to the accuracy of the model when performing the hydrologic
water balance. Attached are samples of the yearly output delineating the precipitation
values.
I hope this information aids in your review of the risk assessment. I will call you this week
to schedule a meeting with you to discuss the report.
Sincerely,
--AV'
Michael J.
