' QUARTERLY MONITORING <br /> AND ADDITIONAL <br /> ' SITE INVESTIGATION REPORT <br /> for <br /> Former Thiemann's Service <br /> ' Ripon, California <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> ' Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation conducted a subsurface site investigation to <br /> further define the extent of contamination in groundwater at the Former Thiemann's Service <br /> ' located at 106 West Second Street in Ripon, California (Figure 1) This report summarizes the <br /> details of field procedures used during the investigation, analytical results, conclusions and <br /> ' recommendations Also contained in this report are the monitoring results for the quarterly <br /> sampling program that began August 23, 1993 <br /> SITE LOCATION <br /> The project site is located on the southwest corner of West Second Street and Stockton Street <br /> in Ripon, California The site location is in a primarily commercial and residential area The <br /> ' property is owned by Mr Gerald Thiemann and the site contact is Mr Gerald Thiemann <br /> Groundwater flow at the site has been found to fluctuate from a southeast to east-northeast <br /> direction <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> ' In March 1991, three underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site Analysis <br /> of soil samples collected from the excavation indicated that high concentrations of petroleum <br /> ' hydrocarbons were present in soil beneath the tanks (AquaGeosciences, September 1993) <br /> Groundwater was not encountered in the excavation The location of the former USTs is shown <br /> on Figure 2 <br /> • <br /> 1 <br />
