under the supervision of a Smith Environmental field geologist All site work was performed <br /> in accordance with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan and the Site Safety and Health <br /> ' Plan included in Smith's "Workplan for Site Investigation" (August 1994) and workplan <br /> ' addendum (September 1994) <br /> In addition, samples were collected from the three existing monitoring wells on site and analyzed <br /> as part of the quarterly monitoring program <br /> ' FIELD INVESTIGATION <br /> Soil Borings <br /> On August 14 and 15, 1995, three soil borings (MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6) were advanced to <br /> ' depths of approximately 44 feet in locations upgradient and downgradient from former the USTs <br /> (Figure 2) The bonngs were advanced using 10-inch outside diameter hollow stem augers All <br /> drilling was performed by Spectrum Exploration, Inc (Spectrum, C57 #512268) Clean augers <br /> were used to drill each boring Dnll cuttings were placed on and covered with plastic sheeting <br /> ' and stored on site pending laboratory analysis Soil samples were collected at five foot intervals <br /> and field screened with an photoionization detector (PID) for evidence of semivolatile and <br /> ' volatile organic compounds PID readings were uniformly low, less than 4 5 parts per million <br /> (ppm) for MW-4 and MW-5 Samples collected from MW-6 at depths of 30 to 31 feet and 31 <br /> ' to 36 feet bgs showed PID readings of 15 4 ppm and 14 2 ppm, respectively Groundwater was <br /> encountered in the borings at depths ranging from 25 to 29 feet below ground surface (bgs) <br /> The soil samples collected at depths of 25 feet bgs in each boring (MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6) <br /> ' were submitted to Argon Laboratories in Modesto, California (DOHS No 1875) using chain of <br /> custody documentation The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as <br /> ' gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) using EPA methods <br /> 5030/8015/8020 Soil analytical results are contained in Table 1 <br /> W \1500781REPORTSIPAR � • <br /> � SMTH <br />
