LOGGING <br /> LW <br /> Soil was extruded from a second brass sleeve or from the unpreserved portions of the soil in the core <br /> barrel samples and were screened for the presence of organic vapor using an organic vapor meter <br /> (OVM) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID: Thermo Environmental 580A,-10.0 cV, <br /> calibrated to isobutylene),and the OVM readings were recorded on the boring log. The soil was.then <br /> L. visually described in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System(see Appendix A). <br /> ,.. 3.3. GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> A grab ground water sample was collected from within the hollow stem augers from soil boring B-2. <br /> &., The auger were advanced to 70 feet bsg and a disposable bailer was used to retrieve a grab ground <br /> water sample. Sufficient sample was collected to fill three 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials <br /> containing 0.5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a preservative and one 1-liter amber bottle without a <br /> +-r sample preservative. Ground water sample containers were labeled with boring designation, date, <br /> time, and samplers initials and then placed in a chilled container. <br /> A,,. <br /> 3.4. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> V Prior to sample collection, soil sampling equipment was thoroughly rinsed with clean water after <br /> being washed s ruffs a soludon of Alconox. Hollow-stc-nn augc s were thoroughly cleaned prior to soil <br /> boring advancement using a high pressure steam cleaner. <br /> 3.5. ANALYTICAL METHODS <br /> Soil samples B1-20,B1-30, B2-20, B2-30, B2-40, B2-50, B2-60, B3-20,B3-30,B4-20 and B4-30 <br /> ,y and ground water sample B2 were analyzed for the following: <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8015M; <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl-tertiary butyl ether <br /> (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020; and <br /> Soil-samples.Bl-20, B1-30, B2-20, B2-30, B2-60, B3-20 and B4-20 and ground water sample B2 <br /> were analyzed for the following: <br /> a. <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironment4 Ine. <br /> l,;r <br />
