07 August 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0605
Page 4of6
Lo • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel (TPH-d) and as motor oil (TPH-mo) in
accordance with EPA Method 8015M.
Soil samples B 1-20,B2-20,B2-30,B2-40,B2-50,132-60,B3-20 and B4-20 and ground water sample
132 were analyzed for the following:
LO Fuel additives di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether (ETBE), MTBE, tert amyl
methyl ether(TAME),tertiary butanol (TBA),methanol, ethanol,ethyl dibromide(EDB)and
1,2 - dichloroethane (1,2 - DCA) by EPA Method 8260 Modified.
4.0. FINDINGS
Ile hydrocarbon impact to soil and ground water was quantified by the laboratory data obtained
from the soil and ground water samples. The site geological model was constructed from the soil
sample descriptions.
4.1. SOIL PROFILE
Generally, brown to gray, dry silt was observed from approximately 5 feet bsg to approximately
35 met bsg in sail boring Bi. Silt was ocsen ed from 15 to 25 feet bsg Room 40 feet to.50 feet and
at 65 feet bsg in boring B2. Sand or silty sand was encountered at 25 feet bsg to 35 feet bsg; from.
55 feet to 60 feet bsg; and at 70 feet bsg in the same soil boring.
Silt was observed from 5 to 10 feet bsg and 20 feet to 30 feet in boring 133 and B4,while silty sand
was encountered at 15 feet bsg in these-soil borings. Boring logs are included in Appendix A.
4.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
MTBE was detected in soil samples B2-20, B2-30 and 132-40 at concentrations of 120 micrograms
per milligram (ug/mg), 1,200 gg/mg and 63 ug/mg, respectively.
TPH-g, TPH-d, THP-mo, BTEX, D1PE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, methanol, ethanol, EDB and 1,2 -
DCA were not detected above laboratory reporting limits in any of the soil samples submitted for
analysis. Analytical results of the soil samples are summarized in Tables 3 and 4. The laboratory
. report(MAI Lab IDs 60638 through 60643 and 60645 through 60649) and chain-of-custody forms
are included in Appendix B.
` Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
1r
