21 November 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0511
Page 2of2
through MW-8 and 10.25-inch diameter hollow stem augers to drill-out wells MW-1, MW-2,
DPE-1 and DPE-2. All original well construction materials were removed (including well
casing, screen, filter pack, and annular seal)to ensure that no residual contamination was
sealed within the abandoned borehole. The two-inch diameterwell casings(MW-3 through
MW-8)were removed intact before advancing the augers beyond three feet below surface
grade (bsg); the 4-inch diameter well casings (MW-1, MW-2, DPE-1 and DPE-2) were
found to be constructed using couplers and could not be removed intact. A solid stinger bit
was used to centralize the augers on the 4-inch diameter well casings for the drill-outs.
Following over-drilling, each well was grouted to near surface using a Portland cement
grout mixture, well boxes were removed and the surfaces at each location were completed
with surface material or a rapid setting concrete mixture.
Well construction materials and soil cuttings were containerized in properly labeled
Department of Transportation (D.O.T.)-approved 55-gallon drums and stored on-site for
proper disposal. Two soil samples were collected from the 55-gallon drums on 18 October
2012 and sent to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratory (CTEL), a state-certified laboratory,
for soil profiling analysis. The samples were composited and analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA method 8015-modified,
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX)in accordance with EPA method
82608, and total lead in accordance with EPA Method 6010B. The analytical results
indicated that all analytes were below detectable limits. On 07 November 2012, the soil
was transported to Instrat, Inc. in Rio Vista, California, under non-hazardous waste
manifest. The laboratory analytical report(CTEL Project Number CT214-1210094), quality
assurance/quality control report, and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B. A
copy of the non-hazardous waste manifest is included in Appendix C.
If you have any questions or require further information, please contact our office at (800)
511-9300.
Sincerely,
SStpNAL GfpO
Advanced GeoEnviro ental, Inc.
