1013 Shaw Road,Stockton,CA 2 August 30, 190
The first Canonie Environmental soil test report (dated July 21, 1986) presents the
results obtained from two soil samples taken from beneath the underground tanks upon their
removal. These results indicate a total lead content of 22 parts per million (ppm) in soil below
the 10,000 gallon tank. Benzene, toluene, total xylenes, and ethyl benzene (BT%&E) constituents
analyzed from soil samples collected beneath both tanks indicated non-detectable
concentrations at the minimum detectable limits. Total volatile hydrocarbons of 2.0 and 5.0
ppm were detected from soil samples collected below the 10,000 and 8,000 gallon tanks,
respectively.
Apparently, based on the test results cited above, Mr. Harlin Knoll of the San Joaquin
County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division filed an Underground Storage
Tank Unauthorized Release/Contamination Site Report on March 18, 1988. Based on this report,
Mr. Knoll requested additional testing at the location of the former underground tanks in
August, 1990,prior to final closure of the underground tanks related to anticipated transfer of
ownership of the facility.
In August, 1990 the existing eight inch concrete pavement layer was removed from
above the location of the former underground tanks and soil was excavated to a depth of
eighteen feet below ground surface (bgs). Two soil samples were collected under each of the
former tanks by Canonie Environmental on August 21, 1990 under the observation of Mr.
Knoll. The two soil samples were obtained from a depth of eighteen and nineteen feet (bgs).
The results of the laboratory tests performed by Canonie Environmental were documented in a
report dated August 27,19N. The results obtained were;
Test Performed Sample Y1 (18 Ft.) Sample El (19 Ft.)
Total Lead(EPA 6010) ND 6.4 ppm.
Total Extractable 15 ppm ND
H drocarbons-(DOHS LUFT)
BT%&E(EPA 8020) ND ND
Total Volatile Hydrocarbons ND ND
(DOHS LUFT)
Soluble Lead (Cal WET) ND ND
s
