Wm. J. Hunter & Associates 2220 Loma Vista Dr
Registered Geologists Sacramento, CA 95825
eetroleum & Mineral Appraisers I (916) 972-7941
FAX (916) 972-1683
April 18, 1995 APR 2 0 1995
Marc Paschini, District Manager ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Canteen Corp PERMITJSERVICES
1500 Shaw Road
Stockton, CA 95215
Ref Monitoring well water depth measurements taken 3/29/1995
Dear Marc ,
I was waiting to give a report covering the above work until I
received the latest lab results, but decided not to wait
On March 29, 1995, Don Light, (Del-Tech Geotechnical Services , )
determined the depth to groundwater in the four wells on U S
Chemical property and the seven wells on the Canteen site He
used a two-phase interface probe to check levels , measurements
were made at least twice to verify accuracy. Eamon Moriarity of
Harding Lawson Associates verified the measurements, and recorded
the data I also was present to make sure the field procedures
were satisfactory After determining water levels in all of the
wells, Don Light purged and sampled the Canteen wells as needed
for quarterly monitoring requirements
After converting the data to mean sea level (MSL) elevations, I
constructed maps showing lines of equal elevations using that
data PLATES A & B are small scale maps showing both sites,
with two different interpretions of the data PLATES C & D are
of the Canteen site, showing the two interpretations on a larger
scale
Based on the results of this work, the following observations can
be made
1 The hydraulic gradient measured in all eleven wells is
indicated to be to the south/southeast This agrees very closely
with prior gradient data obtained from the Canteen. Corp wells
2 Although the data shows the gradient to be steeper on the
Canteen site, there is no apparent disconformity between the two
sets of wells There is no evidence to indicate that the Canteen
wells are separated from those at U S Chemical
3 Monitoring well #1 in the northwest corner of the U S
Chemical property appears to be in a direct downgradient position
from the site of the removed UST' s MW-2 , to the northeast, is
also downgradient, but not in a direct line
•
1
