WASTE DISCHARGE REQUIREMENTS <br />OCCIDENTAL CHEMICAL AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS, INC. <br />LATHROP, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br />-4- <br />2. The by-pass or overflow of waste from the activated carbon treatment and <br />deep well injection disposal facilities is prohibited. <br />3.. The discharge of waste and hazardous substances to useable aquifers, <br />ground water recharge areas, or any other area in hydrologic continuity <br />with useable ground water is prohibited. <br />B. Discharge Specifications: <br />1. The discharge shall not cause a pollution of nuisance as defined by the <br />California Water Code, Section 13050. <br />2. The discharge shall not cause degradation of any water supply. <br />3. The discharge shall not be injected into formations above the Corcoran <br />clay. <br />4. The discharge to each injection well shall not exceed 750 gallons per <br />minute (2840 liters/min). <br />5. The injection pressure shall not exceed 97 psi (6.6 atm), calculated to be <br />75% of the hydrofracture pressure (129 psi). <br />6. OCAP shall immediately inform the Board of any change in injection pres- <br />sures that indicates either failure or plugging of the injection well <br />casings. <br />7. The injection well shall have no passageways which permit the movement of <br />waste to useable ground water or to the ground surface. <br />8. The injection waters shall meet established or any newly adopted state <br />and/or federal drinking water standards or action levels for any hazardous <br />constituents. <br />9. OCAP shall remove and relocate to a site approved by the Executive Offi- <br />cer, any chemicals or wastes which are located or discharged at this site <br />in violation of requirements. <br />C. Provisions: <br />1. OCAP shall comply with Monitoring and Reporting Program No. and <br />the General Provisions for Monitoring and Reporting as specified by the <br />Regional Board Executive Officer. Monitor wells shall be located, de- <br />signed, and installed under the direction of the Board's staff. <br />2. OCAP shall comply with the Standard Provisions and Reporting Requirements, <br />dated 21 September 1979, which are a part of this Order. <br />
