maximum depth of 210 feet or as determined by the supervising geologist or <br /> recommended by the Contractor. The casing shall be new, low carbon steel pipe, <br /> 8.625 in. outside diameter, Schedule 20, with a minimum wall thickness of .250 <br /> in. and weight 22.36 lbs/ft. The casing shall extend 1.5 feet above the ground <br /> surface. <br /> For field assembly by welding, ends of sections may be either belled or <br /> furnished with collars. Collars shall be of the same thickness and have the same <br /> chemical and physical properties as the corresponding casing section, shall be <br /> five inches in width, shall be rolled to fit the outside diameter, and shall be welded <br /> to the casing section. The inside edge of the collars and the outside edge of the <br /> adjacent casing length shall be ground or sufficiently scarfed to remove sharp <br /> edges or burrs. Section ends shall be machined flat, perpendicular of the axis of <br /> the casing. Welders required for field assembly of well casing and screen shall <br /> be qualified in accordance with the latest revision of the section titled, "WELDING <br /> PROCEDURES" of the ASME Boiler Construction Code or by the AWS Standard <br /> Qualification Procedures. All sections shall be joined by a continuous weld with <br /> not less than 3/16 inch full fillet. <br /> Well screen shall be 8.625 in. outside diameter, wire wound V notch, <br /> stainless steel such as manufactured by Johnson Division, P.O. Box G4118 St. <br /> Paul, Minnesota, 55164, or approved equal. The length of the screen section and <br /> the size of slot openings shall be determined by the Contractor after consultation <br /> with the supervising geologist. For bid purposes, assume the screen lengths as <br /> specified in Section 2.2 with 0.030 inch openings. The shape of openings or slot <br /> shall be so designed as to prevent clogging and shall be free from jagged edges <br /> or irregularities that will accelerate clogging or corrosion. The screen shall have <br /> adequate strength to resist any external forces that will be applied after it is <br /> installed. <br /> 10 <br />
