Lo 06 August 2004
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1128
3.5. GROUND WATER SAMPLING
V
Grab ground water samples were collected from each soil boring using a temporary PVC screen. The
r sample-from B-1 was collected such that the probe rods were advanced to approximately 60 feet bsg,
L wherein the hollow steel rods were then pulled out, and a'screened casing was inserted into the
saturated zone. The sample from B-2 was collected such that the probe rods were fitted with a
retractable ground water screen and advanced to the total depth of the boring;the rod was then pulled
IL upward to allow ground water to flow into the screen. Ground water was allowed to enter the casing,
and samples were retrieved using a modified PVC tubing bailer. Sufficient sample was collected
from each boring to fill four 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile organic analysis,(VOA)vials containing
L 0.5-m1 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative and one' 1-liter amber bottle without the
sample preservative. Ground water sample containers were labeled, with probe boring designation,
date, time, and sampler's initials..The samples we're-logge'd on a chain of custody form, placed in a
L chilled container and transported.to CTEL for analysis.
3.6. GROUND WATER SAMPLE ANALYSIS
{ Each grab ground water sample was analyzed for:
L
• TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified; and
L BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method SW846 8021.
{ r
L
3.7. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION -
Prior to sample collection, Geoprobe soil and, ground water.sampling equipment was thoroughly
rinsed with clean water after washing with a solution of Alconox. Geoprobe rods were thoroughly
cleaned prior to soil boring advancement.
f 4.0. FINDINGS
Soil descriptions were utilized to.construct the site geological model;laboratory analysis of soil and
•
ground water samples were utilized to assess the petroleum hydrocarbon-impact on soil and ground
L water...
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
L -
