(Wright) has prepared this report on behalf of City of Tracy
(property owner) for the Public right of way adjacent to the above referenced site. This work is
in response to letter, dated May 6, 1998 from the San Joaquin Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division (PHS EHD) for additional site assessment. This work is being
done to address possible contaminants from an underground petroleum storage -tanks and to
check for presence of MTBE and related fuel oxygenates and physical characteristics of soil in
the area.
Background
Two underground petroleum storage tanks were removed in 1985 from a location that later,
became a portio;8 gallon
oStreet when the road was realigned. -The two tanks (one 350-gallon
diesel and one gasoline) locations were excavated in May 1990 and soil samples
collected at the westend of the excavation at that time showed 18,000 parts per million (ppm) of
Total petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel (TPHD). As a result of that information, PHS EHD
requested additional site assessment.
Field Methods
Exploratory Borings
Three exploratory borings were drilled at the locations in Sixth Street and adjacent sidewalk
shown on Figure 1. Drilling permits were secured from PHS EHD, and a utility clearance was
performed prior to doing the fieldwork. The boreholes were drilled with GeoProbe truck
mounted drilling equipment.
