One tank was
reported to be a 350 gallon diesel fuel tank, the other was a 500 gallon gasoline tank. The
tanks were removed without a permit; soil samples for analysis were not collected from
beneath the tanks following their removal. In 1990 a limited over-excavation of the former
tank area was performed to collect soil samples. -Analytical results from these samples
indicated there had been an unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbons to the soil.
In April 1998 a work plan to begin the vertical and lateral definition of the documented
contamination was submitted to PHS/EHD on your behalf by Wright Environmental
Services, Inc. The work plan was conditionally approved by PHS/EHD in correspondence
dated May 6, 1998.
Please proceed with submittal of a San Joaquin County well permit application along with
the required $89.00 permit fee. After the well permit applications have been processed,
you may implementation the approved work. If you have any questions or comments'
please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
I
I
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
til l,tnnc ot.,
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Dot Lofstrom, R.
