PUBLIC-HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY ,Z
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DMSION `
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer ; P
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor• Stockton, CA 95202
•209/468-3420 [
CITY OF TRACY MAY 0 S 1998
ATTN: PAUL VERMA
520 S TRACY BLVD
TRACY CA 95376
RE: DELTA DISPOSAL Site Code: 2183
99 SIXTH ST
TRACY CA 95376
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) has reviewed the work pian "Site Problem Assessment" dated April
10, 1998 prepared by Wright Environmental Services, Inc.
There are two former underground storage tanks (USTs) in question, not one as
described in the work plan. One 350 gallon diesel UST and one 500 gallon
gasoline UST were removed without permission in 1985. Excavation where
the former tanks were believed to be located was performed in May 1990, and
analyses of the soil sample collected from the west end of the excavation
indicated 18000 ppm of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd).
PHS/EHD approves the work plan with the following conditions:
1) Advance the soil borings until at least two consecutive 5-foot intervals of
clean soils have been reached based on organic vapor monitor (OVM)
reading, field observation, and concurrence of PHS/EHD staff. Advancement
of the soil borings will not stop at the uppermost groundwater bearing strata
unless the conditions mentioned above are met.
2) Selection of soil samples collected from soil borings for analyses must
include PHS/EHD comment and agreement.
3) In addition to testing soil and water samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPHg), aromatic hydrocarbons as benzene, toluene
ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), and all oxygenate compounds including
methyl-tertiary butyl-ether (MTBE), total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPHd) must be tested.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
