,NWI
20 June 2002
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0827
• Report preparation.
Each of these tasks is described in greater detail below
3. 1. PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the EHD. Any necessary City of Stockton
encroachment permit will be procured. In addition, an update to the health and safety plan presently
on-file will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance wlanual for
Hazardous Waste Site :activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to
mobilization, the soil probe boning locations will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained
through Underground Service Alert.
3 1 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Initially,AGE proposes to advance four soil probe borings using direct push technology in the vicinity
of the former southern UST area to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of the petroleum
hydrocarbon impacts to soil and possibly ground water. The proposed probe boring locations many
be modified due to field observations or additional borings may be advanced with approval by the
EHD
Based on the petroleum hydrocarbon-impact to soil, AGE proposes soil boring in the following
locations:
• One boring will be advanced to a depth of 30 feet bsg in the presumed location of the former
UST.
• Three other soil borings will be advanced to a depth of 30 feet bsg around the former leaking
pipe line at the dispenser island or burn area. Grab ground water sample will be collected fi•om
two of these soil borings.
Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet bsg extending to the total probe
boring depths. Proposed probe boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2., field procedures for
advancement of probe borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Section 4. 1.1.
Selected soil samples from each probe boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis with
concurrence of the EHD. The selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California
Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
,1dvu ced(ItcE virmmmlaf,Inc,
