i
10 April 2002
• AGE-NC Project No 01-0827
IPage 3 of 6
' 23 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION
After purging and allowing a measured 35% recharge recovery in well VW-2, and 80 % recharge
recovery of the initial water level in all other wells or after two hours, samples were collected using
new, clean, disposable plastic bailers Each sample was transferred into three 40-m1 EPA-approved
volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials and one 1-liter amber bottle Samples were properly labeled,
' stored in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to Precision EnviroTech(PET)
of Stockton, a State of California DHS-certified analytical laboratory
Each sample was analyzed for
• TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified,
• BTEX compounds and the fuel oxygenated compounds tertiary butanol(TBA),di-isopropyl
ether (DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether(ETBE), tert amyl methyl ether (TAME) and MTBE in
accordance with EPA Method 8260 Modified, and
• Methanol, ethanol, 1,2-Dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and ethylene dibromide (EDB)by EPA
10
Method 8260
1 3.0. FINDINGS
From field data collected at the SVE remediation system between 10 December 2001 and
18 February 2002,AGE determined the average TPH-g concentration and the average flow rate, and
calculated the approximate mass and volume of hydrocarbons removed Ground water flow direction
and gradient was determined from the field data collected on 11 January 2002 The contaminant
impact to ground water was assessed from laboratory data
r3 1 SOIL-VAPOR EXTRACTION
I The SVE unit was operated continuously during the period between 10 December 2001 and 18
February 2002,except during maintenance, the unit typically operated at between 105 and 110 cubic
feet per minute(cfm) An induced vacuum(negative pressure)of approximately 30 inches of water
was measured in the piping between the blower and extraction wells An induced vacuum of
approximately 0 11 inches and 0 01 inches was measured at monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-3,
located 10 feet and 45 feet, respectively, from the extraction wells Utilizing a photo ionization meter
(PID), hydrocarbon concentrations were measured between 8 9 and 285 ppm at the SVE intake
during this period, field measurements are summarized in Table 1
Advanced GeoBnvironmental,Inc
