ZAVMA
. June 15, 1992
Fire Engine Company No 2, Stockton, California
WORK IN PROGRESS
RESNA is preparing a work plan to construct vapor-extraction wells and a ground-water
pumping test well. The vapor-extraction wells will be used to evaluate vapor extraction as
an alternative for remediating residual hydrocarbons in soil The ground-water pumping test
well will be used to conduct a pumping test to evaluate the aquifer parameters for
remediating dissolved hydrocarbons in ground water
After the installation of the groundwater pumping test well, we will subcontract with a
licensed surveyor to survey all groundwater wells to mean sea level We will measure water
levels monthly during the second quarter of 1992 to confirm the ground-water flow direction
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The ground-water flow direction and gradient evaluated this event are consistent with those
previously evaluated Hydrocarbon constituents were detected in all wells except well MW-
3, which is upgradient of the underground tanks Dissolved concentrations of benzene were
above maximum contaminant levels in well MW-1 RESNA recommends that the soil
vapor-extraction and aquifer pump test work be performed in order to develop
recommendations for soil and ground-water remediation The next sampling event has been
scheduled for the week of August 17, 1992
We further recommend forwarding signed copies of this report to Ms. Linda Turkette of the
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division, P O Box 2009,
Stockton, Califorrua 95201, and Mr Gordon Boggs of the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board, Central Valley Region, 3443 Routier Road, Sacramento California 95827-
3098
. 0504jm
38009-4
