This workplan summarizes the objective and
scope of work for the installation of four ground water monitoring wells at the Old Tracy
Yard in Tracy, California (Figure 1). A Site Health and Safety Plan is included as
Attachment A.
OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF WORK
The objective of monitoring well installation is to assess the impact, if any, to ground water
from lead in site soil. To achieve this objective, Terranext has proposed (letter dated
February 15, 1996) and received approval from Mr. Joel Weiss of the Regional Water
Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region (Regional Board) (telephone conference on
June 11, 1996) for the installation of four additional ground water monitoring wells as shown
on Figure 2. Note that two monitoring wells (MW-1 and MW-2) currently are in place.
The scope of work and planned field procedures are as follows:
1. The construction of four ground water monitoring wells to a maximum depth of
20 feet below ground surface (bgs).
* The wells will be installed using a truck mounted drilling rig equipped
with 10-inch outside diameter hollow stem augers.
* Soil samples will be collected for lithologic identification only using an
18-inch split spoon sampler at 5-foot intervals.
469-029.Itr/07-09-96/u/keydata/oldtracy/letters
Telephone: 916 369.8971 Facsimile: 916 369.8370 www.terranext.com
