CONDOR EARTH'TECHNOLOGIES,INC.
HEALTH AND SAFETY PROCEDURES
California State University Stanislaus
Multi-Campus Regional Center
June 21,2000
Condor Earth Technologies,Inc. (Condor) has adopted the following health and safety procedures for working with
organic contaminants encountered during investigative drilling and sampling operations. This Health and Safety
Plan is for the sole use of Condor personnel and Condor's subcontractors. Condor will not accept any responsibility
for use, or lack therefore, of this plan by any other parties. The drilling will be performed by Vironex
Environmental (Vironex) of Foster City, California, or equal. Vironex personnel will be responsible for adhering to
standard safety procedures during all drilling activities.
All work will be done in accordance with current OSHA regulations and all personnel working within the exclusion
zone will have completed a 40-hour OSHA training course and be current with required refresher courses. A
tailgate safety meeting will be held prior to commencement of work each day and this site-specific Health and
Safety Plan will be discussed with and presented to all field personnel for their signatures.
Because subsurface investigation always involves potential unknown chemical hazards, the field activities will be
monitored with an OVA-PID (organic vapor analyzer-photoionization detector). The OVA-PID will detect the
presence of most volatile organic substances above a concentration of one(1)part per million.
L0-SITE ACCESS
Access to the project site shall be limited by the site perimeter(minimum of 20 feet). In no case shall the
exclusion zone for all non-authorized personnel be less than. 20 feet from the borehole location. No
smoking will be allowed in the exclusion zone.
2.0-SITE MANAGER
The site manager shall coordinate all activities involving equipment and personnel at the project site. Site
manager responsibilities will include the following:
a. Limiting access within the site perimeter to authorized personnel.
b. Providing a written log of on-site activities and events.
C. On-site containment of potentially contaminated drill cuttings and water.
d. Monitoring ambient air with OVA-PID.
C. Notification of regulatory agencies during emergency procedures.
f. Enforcement of site safety precautions.
3.0-PERSONAL PROTECTIVE E UIPN ENT
During drilling in soils potentially containing organic contaminants, all personnel shall undertake the
following precautions:
3.1 Skin/Clothes Protection
a. Steel-toed boots and hard hats will be worn during all activities.
b. Disposable suits (ie., Tyvek, Saranex, or equivalent), steel-toed rubber boots or steel-toed boots
covered with disposable boots, and suitable gloves will be worn when there is potential for contact
with contaminated soils.
C. Disposable nitrile gloves will be worn for sampling(changed after each sample).
d. Disposable clothing will be discarded to an appropriate storage container at the end of each day
and disposed of properly at the completion of the job.
