2000 STIMSON ROAD <br /> WKA No 2086 05 <br /> March 25, 1993 <br /> Page 3 <br /> sample 4 revealed 3500 ppm TPH as diesel and 5100 ppm TPH as ,let fuel A summary of <br /> selected analytical results for these soil samples is included as Table 1 <br /> IOn October 24, 1990, Delta Environmental collected three additional soil samples (HB-1, HB-2, <br /> and HB-3) from the tank excavation by advancing a hand auger to a depth of 5 5 feet below the <br /> concrete slab along its northern edge (Plate 2) Test results revealed no detectable concentrations <br /> of fuel constituents from samples HB-1 and HB-2, test results for sample HB-3 revealed 11 ppm <br /> TPH as diesel, 14 ppm TPH as jet fuel and no detectable BTEX A summary of selected <br /> analytical results for these soil samples is included as Table 1 <br /> On April 25, 1992, Golden West Environmental supervised the drilling and sampling of three soil <br /> borings (P1, P2, and P3, Plate 2) Boring P1 was drilled to a depth of 25 feet, boring P2 was <br /> drilled at an angle to a depth of 40 feet, and boring P3 was drilled to a depth of 40 feet Soil <br /> boring logs were not completed during drilling of the borings A total of 21 soil samples were <br /> collected and tested Test results revealed trace concentrations of fuel constituents in samples <br /> from borings P1 and P3 and elevated concentrations of TPH as diesel, gasoline, het fuel and <br /> BTEX in samples from boring P2 The elevated concentrations in boring P2 were detected in <br /> samples from a depth of 20 feet to at least 40 feet, the vertical extent of contamination in boring <br /> P2 was not defined See Table 2 for a summary of analytical results for these soil boring <br /> samples <br /> FIELD INVESTIGATION <br /> I <br /> To evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of contaminated soil in the vicinity of the former <br /> underground fuel tanks and fuel dispensers, eight soil borings (MW1 through MW3, and B1 <br /> through B5) were drilled on the site at the locations shown on Plate 3 The borings were drilled <br /> using a Mobile B61 drill rig provided by Westex Drilling Borings B1 through B5 were drilled <br /> around the perimeter of the former tank excavation to depths between 45 and 50 feet, and borings <br /> MW 1 through MW3 were drilled to depths of 60 feet and converted into four-inch diameter <br /> monitoring wells In addition to these borings, three hand auger boring samples (DI-1, DI-2, and <br /> D1-3) were collected at depths of five feet from beneath the former fuel dispensers using a hand <br /> o <br /> 0000 <br /> WALLACE KUHL <br /> Rc ycfrd pup r <br /> Er ASSOCIATES WC <br />
