If concrete cutting/coring is a problem because of reinforcing steel, a commercial concrete cutting company may be retained for this service. The boring is to be advanced with a hand auger and sampling system. If alternative drilling methods are required, additional costs may be incurred. • No respiratory protection or shoring will be necessary. • Soil generated during the drilling and sampling will be the responsibility of the client. Soil cuttings will be placed on plastic, covered, and stored inside the garage. Disposal or remediation options for the soil can be assessed once analytical results have been received. Kleinfelder can assist the client with the disposal of soil if necessary. • The client will be responsible for locating all underground utilities and other subsurface structures that could interfere with drilling operations or be damaged during drilling. Failure to locate such lines or structures will be the sole responsibility of the client. Underground Services Alert (USA) at 1-800- 642-2444 provides this service free of charge for major utility lines. Kleinfelder can make contact with USA for a site visit, if requested. • Groundwater is anticipated at a depth of approximately 50 to 60 feet below ground surface. If groundwater is encountered at greater or lesser depths, casts will be adjusted accordingly. • Repair of the slab and other interior surfaces damaged in the process of drilling are the sole responsibility of the City of Stockton. • The proposed scope of work and cost estimate is based on the previously described scope of work. If additional services are deemed necessary, the client will be notified immediately. LIMITATIONS Kleinfelder offers various levels of investigative and engineering services to suit the varying needs of different clients. Although risk can never be eliminated, more-detailed and extensive investigations yield more information, which may help understand and manage the level of risk. Since detailed investigation and analysis involves greater expense, our clients participate in determining levels of service which provide adequate information for their purposes at acceptable levels of risk. Acceptance of this proposal will indicate that The City of Stockton has reviewed the scope of work and determined that it does not need or want a greater level of service than will be provided.
