Ms. Lori Duncan
_ July 26, 2006
Page 5 of 6
selected for laboratory analyses from each boring based on soil vapor readings using a PID and/or visual
characteristics(i.e., staining, odors,sheen).
The soil boring advanced east of MW-I will be completed as monitoring well MW-6 (Figure 1). The
boring will be advanced to the installation depth of the well using hollow-stem-auger (HSA) drilling
methods. The well shall be constructed of 2-inch diameter poly-vinyl chloride (PVC) risers with a 20-
foot length of 0.010-inch slotted screen section installed from 20 to 40 feet bgs, and will be finished at
grade with a flush-mount protective casing set into a concrete surface pad. A generalized well
construction details for the shallow well is presented in Attachment 2. The well will be developed a
minimum of 48-hours after completion to remove the fine sediments entrained within the sand-pack
during well installation. Following development, groundwater samples will be collected from the
monitoring well network.
The newly installed monitoring well and soil boring locations will be surveyed for location coordinates,
and for reference point elevation(MW-6), following completion.
Soil cuttings, drilling fluids, purge water, decontamination fluids, and personal protective equipment
(PPE) generated by the investigation activities will be containerized in 55-gallon drums for subsequent
offsite transport and disposal by a Chevron-approved contractor.
Laboratory Analysis
The selected soil and groundwater samples described above will be submitted to Lancaster Laboratories,
of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a California Department of Health Services-Certified laboratory under
appropriate chain-of-custody protocols and analyzed for the presence of TPH-D by United States
Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 801513, and TPH-G, and BTEX by USEPA Method
8260B.
Reaortin2
A report will be prepared to document the site investigation activities performed. This report will include
the following:
• site conditions and background information;
• results of the geophysical surveys including a summary of the field activities performed and the
locations of potential underground structures determined by the field surveys.
• a scaled site plan illustrating the soil and groundwater sampling locations and other relevant site
features;
• documentation of soil and groundwater sampling activities performed in connection with the site
assessment;
• results of the laboratory analyses performed on soil groundwater samples;and
i • conclusions relevant to the assessment objectives.
i
r
` J:gXW06\9-8227_00261022_2006 Work Plan.doc
BLASLAND, BOUCK& LEE, INC.
engineers,scientists, economists
