The County's
comments to the Work Plan are shown in bold Italics. A response follows each comment below.
iProvide/ Justification for a shallow soil boring located north/northwest of MW-1. Analytical data
exists from both soil and ground water samples from monitoring well U-7, which belongs to the Unocal
site, and is located in the same direction from MW-1 as the proposed boring.
BBL was not provided analytical results for soil samples collected from monitoring well location U-7,
and was unaware this data exists. BBL requests a copy of the environmental report summarizing the
results of samples collected and analyzed from location U-7 associated with the Unocal #0187 site.
Based on verbal reports by the County that soil samples collected from location U-7 were non-detect for
petroleum hydrocarbons, the soil boring initially proposed in BBL'S Work Plan (identified as SB-2 on
Figure 1 of the Work Plan) is no longer necessary to delineate soil impacts north of MW-1.
The vertical delineation of soil contamination near MW-1. The Work Plan states vertical delineation
was completed with soil samples collected from CPT-1. However, the deepest soil sample collected
from CPT-1 was from 78 feet below surface grade, and was reported to contain 4,800 milligrams per
kilogram (mg/kg) TPH as diesel, 58 mg/kg toluene, 67 mg/kg ethylbenzene and 350 mg/kg xylenes.
034603054.doc
10470 Old Placerville Road•Suite 110•Sacramento,CA 95827
Tel(916)857-0124•Fax(916)857-1965•www.bbl-inc.com.Offices Nationwide
