i •
• 25 October 2002
AGE-NC Project No 02-0964
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
To assess the vertical and lateral extent of hydrocarbon solvent-impacted soil and gi ound water at
the site, completion of the following tasks is required
• Permitting and pre-field work activities,
• Cone penetrometer test (CPT) drilling and sample collection and
• PI epai ation of a report of findings
3 1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
A site assessment boring permit will be obtained h om the EHD for all on-site and off-site well
locations In addition encroachment or access permits or permission will be obtained from the City
of Stockton (COS) to allow for assessment off-site PI ioi to mobilization, the soil boring locations
will be clearly mai ked and a utility clearance obtained through Undergiound Service Alert
3 2 CONE PENETROMETER TEST DRILLING AND SAMPLE COLLECTION
AGE proposes to drill up to six paired CPT soil borings to characterize lithology, assess the vertical
and lateral extent of impacted soil and ground water, and model potential contaminant n-agration
pathways at the site Based on the distribution of contaminates encountered to date, AGE proposes
to advance four CPT soil borings in the following locations (Figure 2)
• CPT 1 at the location of monitoring well MW-I and soil borings A and I,
• CPT2 at the location of soil bonings B and 7,
• CPT3 between the location of monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-3, southwest of CPT2, and
• CPT4 on Miner Avenue north of the at the location of soil boring H
Two additional locations to help define the lateral extent of the dissolved hydrocarbons plume are
• CPT5 approximately 25 feet northwest of soil boring D and
• CPT6 immediately south of soil boring G
The fiist boring at each location will be a cone penetrometer (CPT) bore, the CPT will acquire a
continuous lithologic recoi d to define the hydrologic units A second bonng subsequently will be
advanced Immediately adjacent to the first boie to acquire soil and grab ground water samples in
targeted zones based on Interpreted lithologic data and assessment needs The CPT borings will be
Advanced GeoEnv►ronmentar,Inc
