Gary Weinberger Page 2
JVM Associates
During this time period, quarterly reports are still required to ±
be submitted to PHS--EHD, but contaminant data obtained from wells
with groundwater levels above screened intervals cannot be
accepted as conclusive evidence for closure requests .
Please inform PHS-EHD of your decision to either aggressively
investigate this site and replace the affected wells now or to
slow down and only monitor the site .
In order to evaluate the extent of the groundwater plume, MTBE
analysis is required on all groundwater samples for at least two
consecutive quarters . If MTBE is not detected for these two
quarters, you may discontinue the analysis until redirected by
PHS-EHD. Please utilize EPA Method 8240 modified GC/MS for the
analysis . The detection limit should be as close to 1 . 0 part per
billion as practicable . Some laboratories can be requested to
test ONLY for MTBE and not the full 8240 constituent list .
I look forward to working with you in the future and if there are
any questions you may have concerning any remediative actions at
your site, please contact me at (209) 468-3454 .
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Michael Infurna, Senior REHS Diane M.
