Site Code: 1075
781 Swift Way
Stockton, Ca 95206
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) has
reviewed the "Workplan Addendum" submitted by Wallace-Kuhl on September 28,1994 and
has the following comments.
Although placement of the proposed monitoring well (MW-4) in the western quadrant will aid
in delineating the soil and groundwater plume, PHS-EHD is concerned that quadrants to the
southwest and to the north have not yet been investigated.
Groundwater gradient information submitted in this workplan confirms a generally northern
gradient over the last fifteen months. Currently, there is no monitoring well down gradient
and PHS-EHD recommends that if only one well were to be placed at this time, it should be
placed north of the old tank pit.
Current corrective action regulations require that sites collect and analyze data necessary to
assess the nature and vertical and lateral extent of both the contaminated soil and groundwater
and determine a cost-effective method of cleanup. (California Code of Regulations Title 23)
section 2725).
PHS-EHD recommends that a cost-efficient method now may be to place multiple wells that
would also assess the areas south and west of the old tank pit.
Whether a single well or multiple monitoring wells are to be placed during this proposed
phase, PHS-EHD will require an updated site map showing the new well location(s).
A Division of San Joaquin Count}' Health Care Service%
