' _ r
12/10/96
Mr. Harlin Knoll
Page 2
MW-5: Discontinue sampling; continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Well is located immediately adjacent to well MW-3 and yields little
meaningful additional data.
MW-6: Resume coordinated sampling with Exxon per the discussion in my
3/22/96 letter to Mr. Knoll and Ms. Thayer. Please provide a contact for Exxon and
Chevron so that this work can take place.
MW-7: Discontinue sampling; continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Petroleum hydrocarbons have not been detected since February, 1990,
MW-8: It appears that MW-8 is located downgradient of the Exxon site and very
near a former Chevron site. It is my understanding that confirmed hydrocarbon releases
have occurred at both of these sites. The MW-8 chemical data may, therefore, not be
representative of a release from the BP site. We propose to coordinate any future
monitoring with Exxon and Chevron. Please provide a contact for Exxon and Chevron
so that this work can take place.
AMW-1: Discontinue sampling; continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Petroleum hydrocarbons have not been detected since 12/10/91.
AMW-2: Discontinue sampling-, continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Aromatic hydrocarbons have not been detected.
AMW-3: Discontinue sampling; continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Petroleum hydrocarbons have not been detected since 08/10/90.
AMW-4: Discontinue sampling; continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Petroleum hydrocarbons have not been detected since 08/10/90.
AMW-5: Discontinue sampling; continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Well is located immediately adjacent to well MW-2 and yields little
meaningful additional data.
AMW-6: Discontinue sampling; continue gauging groundwater elevations.
Rationale: Well is located immediately adjacent to well MW-3 and yields little
meaningful additional data.
We trust that these modifications to the sampling regime will be acceptable to the San
Joaquin County Public Health Services unless we receive contrary direction from your
office.
