Mr Harlin Knoll Page 2
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Former BP Retail Site No 11194
August 11, 2005
production wells within a 2000 foot radius, contacting the City of Tracy Public Works Water
Resources Division (CTPWWRD), the local water purveyors, to ascertain the location and pertinent
well construction information of nearby wells, and a 500-foot field reconnaissance to locate and/or
confirm the presence of wells or other sensitive receptors
DWR Well Search Results
A review of well records at the DWR identified four wells located within 2,000 feet of the site, one
domestic well and three irrigation wells The results of the DWR well search are provided in Table 1
and the approximate locations of these wells in relation to the site are indicated on Figure I The closest
identified well is located approximately 250 feet southeast at the northeastern corner of the baseball
park This well is a replacement irrigation well (Production well #7) used to irrigate the adjacent
baseball park area It is screened at several Intervals between 400 and 1,000 feet bgs and pumps
approximately 2,500 gallons per day The well was recently constructed with a 200-foot concrete seal
The locations of the other 3 wells are approximate based on the limited information available on the
well drillers reports It is unlikely that these wells are still in use due to the fact that the area is
• connected to city water and is no longer used for agriculture URS was unable to locate these wells in
the field and it is unknown as to whether they have been abandoned or destroyed
URS contacted CTPWWRD to ascertain whether they operate any wells In the vicinity of the site
According to Mr Steve Bayley with CTPWWRD, the city does not own or operate any municipal
supply wells in the area, but does operate an irrigation well on the opposite side of Tracy Boulevard
Well construction details and pumping data for this well were provided by Mr Bayley
On August 8, 2005, URS performed a 500-foot reconnaissance to identify and/or verify the location of
wells, water bodies, and schools The location of Production well #7 was observed in the ballpark
parking area, approximately 250 feet southeast of the site No other wells were observed No schools,
water bodies or other sensitive receptors were identified
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Four water supply wells were identified in the vicinity of the BP site during the DWR well search The
closest well to the site, a city Irrigation well, is currently in operation The status of other three wells
identified in the well search could not be determined however it Is likely that they are not in use No
other sensitive receptors were identified
K 1WprocesW5 BP ARC011 11941Sensrtive Receptor Survey 2005 doc
