1 •
' 25 August 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1045
' 3.1. SOIL DESCRIPTIONS
The soil encountered in boring B-1 at discrete depths between 5 and 30 feet bsg consisted of dark
' brown to orange brown, moist to saturated clayey silt. Ground water was encountered at
approximately 25 to 30 feet bsg with recharge up to 15.5 feet bsg. Soil boring logs are included in
Appendix A.
3.2. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in the soil samples analyzed at concentrations of
' 10,600mg/kg, 13mg/kg, 330mg/kg, 180mg/kg, and 444mg/kg for TPH-g, benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes, respectively. MTBE was not detected in the soil samples analyzed.
Naphthalene was detected in two soil samples at concentrations up to 35 mg/kg. Benzene and
' toluene isomers-like compounds were also detected in the soil samples at varying concentrations.
Soil sample analytical results are summarized in Table 1. The laboratory report (CTEL Lab ID
0308089), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and chain-of-custody are included in
' Appendix B.
' 3.3. ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in samples from boring B 1 at concentrations of 2,560,000micrograms per liter
(µg/1),BTEX compounds were detected at concentrations of 1,300µg/1,30,000µg/1,37,000µg/1,and
101,000µg/1 for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes, respectively. Naphthalene and
benzene isomers-like compounds were also detected in the grab ground water sample at varying
' concentrations. Analytical results from ground water samples are summarized in Table 1. The
laboratory report(CTEL Lab ID 0308089),quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC)and chain-
of-custody are included in Appendix B.
' 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon soil and ground water data collected during advancement of soil borings, AGE
' concludes:
• Dark brown to orange brown, moist to saturated clayey silt was identified at depths between
5 and 30 feet bsg in the soil boring B-1. Ground water was encountered at approximately
25 feet bsg.
• Gasoline and BTEX was detected in the soil samples at elevated concentrations in boring
' B-1; Naphthalene was detected at low concentrations in soil samples.
Advanced GwEnviroamental,Inc.
