k4 KLEINFELDER
developed as described in Appendix .3.2. In addition to developing the monitoring wells until
the discharge runs relatively clear of fines, the discharge will be periodically monitored for pH,
temperature, and specific conductance to record stable groundwater parameters during the
development task.
Water level measurement will be made in the well at the beginning of the development and prior to
purging the well. The depth to hindwater will then be measured in the well according to the
protocol described in Appendix A'• The depth to groundwater measurement will then be converted
to relative groundwater elevation with respect to mean sea level or a local benchmark by subtracting
them from the surveyed casing elevation. The resulting groundwater elevation will be used to
assess the direction of the groundwater gradient at the time of sampling. This information can then
be used to assess which wells represent upgradient and which wells represent downgradient
groundwater conditions.
INITIAL GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
yMyoa'/
Water level measurements will be made in the monitoring wells prior to purging and sampling
the wells. The depth to groundwater will then be measured in each well according to the
protocol described in Appendix f.I.
Approximately three t five well volumes will be purged and samples will be collected as
described in Appendix, 4.2 in laboratory grade prepared bottle sets. Each of the water samples
collected for quantitative analyses will be submitted under chain-of-custody control to a
laboratory certified by the State of California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC)
for the requested analyses.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
After collection, the soil and/or groundwater samples will be labeled, logged on a chain-of-
custody form, and immediately stored in an iced cooler. The samples will be transported under
chain-of-custody control to Kleinfelder's office and then transported by courier in a sealed
container to a State Certified Laboratory to perform the requested analyses.
+hr-4 1
A minimum of nine soil samples (three from each of the Xr borings) and three groundwater
samples will be submitted for the following analyses. I
.rryyv .tG'Iy
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-gasoline (TPH-g)by EPA Method 8015;
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020;
• 1,2 DCA by EPA Method 8260;
• EDB by EPA Method 8260;
• TBA by EPA Method 8260; and
• Oxygenates, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME by EPA Method 8260.
The samples will be submitted for analyses on a normal laboratory schedule requiring
approximately two weeks (10 working days) for completion unless the optional rush analytical
turnaround is requested by the client at an additional charge.
02001PROP.ENV/ST04P347/KS:ss Page 4 of 8
Copyright 2004,Kleinfelder,Inc.
