The excavated soils were
stockpiled at the 1320 West Weber facility for bioremedlation.
3.0 PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
The following scope of work is proposed at the North Union Street and West Weber
Street facilities,
Task 1: Health and Safety Plan Revision
Task 2: Confirmation Sampling of Hernediated Soils
Task 3: Drummed Soil and Groundwater Disposal Management
Task 4: Project Management
Task 't: Health and Safety Pian ReVislon
The site specific Health and Safety Plan (HSP) prepared for the Soil and Groundwater
Investigation conducted in October 1994 has been revised to reflect the changes In the
Scope of Work recommended in this Work Plan. The revised HSP is included as Attachment
1.
Task 2; Confirmation Sampling of Remediated Soils
The soils from the extavaations at 425 North Union Street were stockpiled and treated
at tho 1320(Nest Weber Street facility. To assess the effectiveness of the remedlatlon
program, the stockpiled sails at West Weber Street will bo sampled and analyzed. A field
reconnaissance of the stockpiled soils was conducted by ICI= Kaiser on April 4, 1995. The
approximate dimensions of the soil stockpile are 125 x 260 feet with depths ranging from 1 to
3 feet. The soil was placed on visquene which appears to be in relatively good condition
where visible. eased on an average depth of 2 fest, the Volume of stockpiled soils Is
estimated at approximately 2,400 cubic yards.
The soil stockpile will be gridded and twenty soil samples wili be collected from the
soil stockpile (approximately one sample for every 120 cubic yards of soil). The samples will
be collected at the base of the stockpile (approximately 2- to 3-feet deep) with a hand-held
drive sampler (slams-bar). The samples will be collected In 2-inch diameter by 4-inch long
brass liners. After collection, each brass liner will be sealed with Teflon*tape and plastic and
caps, labeled, and placed immediately into a chilled cooler for transportation to a California
certified laboratory. Strict chole-of-custody procedures will be followed during sample
collection .and delivery to the laboratory,
Thu soil samples will be analyzed for extractable total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-e)
using EPA Method 3550, gasoline range total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-g) using EPA
Method SM. and benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene (STEX) using EPA Method
8020. All sampling tools will be cleaned with Alconox (a laboratory-grade detergent) and
double-rinsed with dejonized water prior to use at each sample location.
l?Axuwu mbnktNwahw,vq, 2
