Inventory Management
Marking Products Out of Stock
For certain items such as seasonal products, after the Store Manager ensures that his or her store team
has followed the applicable markdown cadence, the items should be damaged and marked out of stock
following the process below.
1. Scan each item with the HHT
2. If the item scans at $0.01, then it has been removed from inventory.
3. The Store Manager should ensure that all the penny items are reviewed using the Product Recovery
Process. Note: Under no circumstance should an American flatâ–º be destroyed or discarded.
Donate remaining units of American flags to one of the following groups or institutions in
your area: Boy Scouts troop, Girl Scouts troop, the VFW, National Guard Armory/Military
Base, public school, cemeteries. Keep remaining American flags on the sales floor or in the
receiving room until you are able to donate them. If the Store Manager is unable to donate
to one of the groups listed above, he or she should contact his or her District Manager.
*See note above regarding The Environmental Compliance Program guidelines.
4. If an item scans in the HHT at any other price, it is still inventory and should be placed back on the
sales floor.
Questions regarding the markdown process? Call Inventory Support at 1-700-200-1234, ext. 4856.
If the Environmental Compliance Program has been implemented at your store, the Store Manager
should call the Store Facilities Maintenance and Services Hotline at 1-866-300-0004 with any
questions regarding the proper disposal process.
o 2020 D.llar General FT-2001 effective 20200727
