The SAMR discusses the sampling
activities conducted in July 2003. The Work Plan proposes to install 12 air/ozone sparge points
at the site and to conduct a two-month pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of ozone
degrading chloroform. GPC will use monitoring wells MW-21,MW-22, and MW-23 to monitor
the effectiveness of the air/ozone injection system. The Work Plan proposes baseline sampling,
conducting pressure and flow testing twice a week, and sampling every two weeks after the start
up of the system to evaluate effectiveness of reducing chloroform concentrations, air
permeability, and if plugging of the sparge points is occurring.
We have the following comments on these reports:
1. The Report describes adding about 80 gallons of water to monitoring well MW-23 due to
drilling difficulties caused by heaving sands.
