0 0
Ms. Julie Raming - 2 - 11 September 2003
for MW-23 included in the Report states 40 gallons of water was purged from the well
during development activities. Regional Board staff is not opposed to adding water
during well construction due to heaving sands, but GPC, at a minimum, needs to purge
out the approximate amount of water that was added to the well.
2. The Work Plan states that the ozone will oxidize the chloroform to carbon dioxide and
chloride. However, the proposed groundwater analyses do not include either of these.
GPC needs to include analysis for carbon dioxide and chloride in the pilot study
monitoring.
Regional Board staff concurs with the Work Plan provided that carbon dioxide and chloride
analyses are included in the air/ozone sparging pilot test. Based on the schedule included in the
Work Plan to install the sparge points and air/ozone injection system,by 12 March 2004,please
submit an air/ozone pilot study summary report that includes a discussion of the system
installation, results of groundwater monitoring, and recommendations for full-scale
implementation, if applicable. If you have any questions, you may contact me at (916)255-3119
or by email at lewisd@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
Low11 _4-
DEVRA LEWIS
Environmental Scientist
cc: Mr. Mike Infuma, San Joaquin County Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Robert L.
