The work plan is approved under the
following conditions.
Figure 1,Proposed Well Locations
The new wells should be numbered starting with BC-18 rather than BC-15 as shown in Figure 1 since
there are existing wells numbered BC-15,BC-16, and BC-17.
Sampling
The first ground water samples to be analyzed should be collected at least 48 hours after well development
since contaminants associated with well construction may be present immediately after well development
and the data will be used to evaluate the need for additional investigation and remediation.
It appears from the description of sampling procedures that only soil samples from the capillary fringe will
be submitted for laboratory analyses. If field screening indicates the presence of volatile organic
compounds (VOCs)in soil above the capillary fringe, then such soil samples should be submitted for
laboratory analyses.
In addition to submitting a travel blank and field blank for laboratory analyses, one duplicate ground water
sample for every 10 samples collected should be collected and submitted for laboratory analyses.
Well Construction
The offsite monitoring well should be constructed of four-inch rather than two-inch casing for extraction
purposes, if necessary.
Based on the schedule in the work plan, please submit an investigation report, including recommendations
forfuture actions, by 26 April 1997.
