0 0
I
ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS
MUSCO OLIVE PRDUCTS AND THE STUDLEY COMPANY
TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
1) Provide a description of the facility including location, size, products produced, number of
olive storage tanks, olive processing tanks, tons of olives processed, and number of
employees.
2) Describe the property lines, surface water drainage patterns, and groundwater flow direction.
3) Provide a description of plant operation and maintenance procedures as related to
wastewater generation, storage, and land application. Describe the criteria for determination
of wastewater discharge to either the Title 27 wastewater ponds or the land application
system.
4) Describe the treatment and discharge of all stormwater and domestic wastewater. Provide
information on the flow rate for each and the location of any meters used to measure the
data.
5) Describe the source of all industrial wastewater, estimate the volumes from each source, and
provide data summary tables of chemical analyses, metered data, or observations on the
wastewater quality. Stormwater that mixes with wastewater shall also be included and
characterized.
6) Identify all water treatment activities (i.e. ion exchange, filtration, reverse osmosis), and
waste streams generated (i.e. regeneration brine solutions, reject water, etc.), and the
disposal of the wastewater generated in the treatment processes.
7) Describe anticipated wastewater flow trends for the next ten years. Is flow anticipated to
increase or decrease?
8) Describe any chemical additives that are added to the process water or wastewater to prevent
scaling, biofouling, or other undesirable tendency. Include a description of the cooling
towers, additives to the cooling water, and approximate chemical use rate.
9) Does a clean-in-place system exist? If so, describe the system and the chemicals used in the
system.
10) Describe procedures to control contaminants in the wastewater streams. An evaluation of
the use of less environmentally damaging chemicals shall also be included.
11) Identify solids generated in wastewater treatment and describe the handling and disposal of
solids generated in the treatment processes or product preparation.
12) Provide a site map showing the locations of domestic/process water wells, groundwater
monitoring wells, and other wells on the property or within 250 feet of the existing or
proposed application areas. Include available data on the depth of groundwater and
information on aquifers and aquitards identified beneath the property.
13) Describe how the treatment and application system protects groundwater quality. Show
calculations for BOD loading, nitrogen compound loading, and dissolved solids loading.
Also present calculations of crop uptake of constituents in the wastewater.
C.T,,w FR.Si%.N us,.\HaI031202.doc
