Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
Section 5: Proposed Activities - Groundwater Monitoring
Network
5.1 Location and Rationale
Three additional groundwater monitoring wells are proposed to satisfy the intent of the Title 27
DMP. The locations of these wells are presented on Figure 9. Installation details applicable to
installation and drilling of all wells, including provisions for evaluating potential zones of higher
conductivity, can be found in Section 5.2.
Well MW-20R is proposed to be installed in the immediate vicinity of Well MW-20. This well is
anticipated to be installed in the intermediate zone and groundwater is anticipated to be
encountered at approximately 105 feet bgs. Well MW-20R will serve as a downgradient/
compliance well suitable for detecting a release from the Title 27 ponds. It should be noted that
the installation of Well MW-20R is currently proposed to the RWQCB (Musco 2010).
Well MW-21R is proposed to be installed in the immediate vicinity of Well MW-21. This well is
anticipated to be installed in the intermediate zone and groundwater is anticipated to be
encountered at approximately 105 feet bgs.Well MW-21R will serve as a
downgradient/compliance well suitable for detecting a release from the Title 27 ponds.
Well MW-19R is proposed to be installed approximately 380 feet southwest of Title 27 ponds.
This well is anticipated to be installed in the intermediate zone and groundwater is anticipated to
be encountered at approximately 99 feet bgs.Well MW-19R will serve as the upgradient/
background monitoring well for the Title 27 DMP.
5.2 Field Activities
The following field activities will be conducted: drilling the soil borings and installing monitoring
wells, developing the wells, and collecting groundwater samples from monitoring wells for
laboratory analysis.
5.2.1 Pre-Field Activities
The following pre-field activities will be conducted prior to initiating fieldwork at the Site:
• Update the site-specific Health and Safety Plan.
• Obtain well installation permits from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department.
• Select and mark the specific locations for the new monitoring wells.
• Survey the proposed boring locations for potential location conflicts with subsurface
utilities by performing a utility clearance check prior to drilling. The survey will be
performed by contacting Underground Service Alert (USA) for utility clearance at least
two working days before the scheduled fieldwork commences.
Page 12 Work Plan for Improved Detection Monitoring Program
Musco Family Olive Company, Tracy, California
9. gmupWnnyoWX20104 oomwlveN9 modsmm 27_dmpWf dwumomlreport text-09-26.doc
