Horizontal
locations of the new wells will also be surveyed to the nearest 0.1 foot relative to the California
Coordinate system.
8.4 Groundwater Sampling
Initial sampling of groundwater will be conducted from the newly-installed monitoring wells no
sooner than 72 hours after these wells have been developed, in accordance with
Kennedy/Jenks' Standard Operating Guideline—Groundwater Sampling (Appendix 1).
Groundwater will be purged from the monitoring wells prior to sampling to acquire samples
representative of aquifer conditions. The field parameters pH,temperature, and electrical
conductivity will be monitored during purging to document stabilization of groundwater quality in
accordance with Kennedy/Jenks'Standard Operating Guideline—Field Measurement of pH,
Temperature, and Conductivity(Appendix J). Field parameters will be recorded on a
groundwater purge and sample form. In accordance with the Monitoring and Reporting Program
R5-2002-1048(MRP), Musco will also continue to perform quarterly monitoring of the previously
installed groundwater monitoring wells to obtain additional groundwater characterization data.
Groundwater samples will be collected into appropriate containers provided by the analytical
laboratory using a new disposable bailer or a positive displacement pump. One duplicate
sample will be collected during each sampling event. Following collection, the samples will be
labeled and placed into a chilled container held at four degrees Celsius. The samples will be
submitted in the chilled container to a state-certified analytical laboratory using chain-of-custody
procedures to document the sample handling process. The groundwater samples will be
analyzed for the following water quality constituents and parameters by the analytical laboratory
following their normal turnaround time and Internal quality assurance/quality control(QA/QC)
procedures:
• Boron by EPA Method 200.7.
Calcium by EPA Method 6010.
• Biochemical Oxygen Demand by EPA Method 410.4.
• Chloride by EPA Method 300 Series.
Magnesium by EPA Method 6010.
Nitrate-Nitrogen by EPA Method 300 Series.
Ammonia by EPA Method 350.3.
• Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen by EPA Method 351.4.
• pH by EPA Method 150.1.
• Potassium by EPA Method 6010.
Sodium by EPA Method 6010.
Specific Conductivity by EPA Method 120.1.
• Sulfate by EPA Method 300 Series.
Bicarbonate Alkalinity by EPA Method 310.1.
• Total Dissolved Solids by EPA Method 160.1.
Phase I Groundwater Investigation Report and Work Plan(or Phase 11 Investigation Page 29
Musco Family Olive Company, Tracy, California
ip:ugoqmm.yanrvmw.ror..roc,.roemwwirp,..iq..tr,.e,pm..oimmcrt vnunas
